Until recently, sertanejo was a predominantly male style, but with the modernization and democratization of the genre, women have proven they are capable of composing beautiful songs and performing them in a unique and emotional way. In other words, female divas have invaded the country music scene and gained overwhelming and effective recognition.

Feminejo is nothing more than sertanejo made by women. In the songs, you can find themes ranging from female empowerment to heartache, overcoming struggles, friendship, and companionship. Today, this musical style has taken over streaming platforms and is transforming the Brazilian market as a whole. Therefore, today on the 7MBoots website, we will talk a little more about Maiara & Maraísa, true goddesses of feminejo. Check out the special we prepared for you about this duo.

History of Maiara & Maraísa

The twin sisters Maiara Carla Henrique Pereira and Carla Maraísa Henrique Pereira were born in São José dos Quatros Marcos (MS) on December 31, 1987. At the age of 5, the two began their stage performances, and 12 years later, they recorded their first independent album titled “Geminis Totalmente Livre.” Since the first album did not achieve much success, Maiara took up two degree programs: Law and Music. On the other hand, Maraísa pursued International Relations and Music. However, both only completed the Music course because due to their career investments, the sisters did not have time to fully dedicate themselves to their studies.

In 2013, the duo began composing songs for major artists such as Jorge & Mateus and Henrique & Juliano, in addition to the unforgettable Cristiano Araújo.

2016 – The Explosion in Their Career

Although the sisters had released genuine hits sung by other artists, their genuine dream was to gain national success as a female duo. After many years of performing at various locations with very low pay, in 2016, the sisters reached another level and exploded on all sertanejo radio stations with the songs “10%” and “Medo Bobo.” From then on, the duo began performing an average of 30 shows per month.

That same year, the sisters recorded the historic DVD “Ao Vivo em Goiânia,” already under contract with the Som Livre record label, and appeared in the compilation “Agora É Que São Elas,” an album that featured the best songs from female sertanejo singers and duos.

2017 – The Much-Deserved Recognition

In 2017, the duo Maiara and Maraísa established themselves as one of the main highlights in the sertanejo scene. Moreover, on the Internet, the artists achieved 3 billion views and nearly 5 million subscribers on their YouTube channel. Furthermore, Maiara and Maraísa were among the most searched names online, according to Google’s information.

And It Continues...

In 2018, the sisters released the DVD “Reflexo,” which came to materialize the new phase of the singers, who are more mature and more secure. In August of last year, the DVD was released on YouTube and other digital platforms. “Coração Infectado” was the song chosen to be released on the radio. After a week, the song already ranked 1st place on the Billboard Brazil Hot 100 chart. This year, the successful career of the singers continued strong and steady. With numerous shows across the country, there is no doubt that the sisters are the new stars of sertanejo. We at 7MBoots wish them success and prosperity.
